The hardest terms to SEO are made of just one or two very popular words, which are also expensive for pay per click. Cost savings are made by using Drupal Web Design

Our first project was www.sendmycard.co.uk, which required ‘send cards’ to be on page 1 of Google.

The cost of pay per click was over £1.00 per click and it was estimated it would cost in units of  ‘£500.00 per month to get over  1000 hits on the site, selling 350 cards’.

For a target of 700 sales per month (2,000 hits), it would require 2 units or £1,000 per month.

The price of the product would need to be increased by £1.50 and a good chunk of the profit would go to Google. A £1.50 card would have the price increased to £2.99 which is a price that consumers would pay.

The client decided to invest in Drupal Web Design and SEO and currently saves £1,000 per month in pay per click. The work initially was extremely demanding, and a total of 1,200 hours work were spent on doing everything that would make the site worthy of page 1 of Google, e.g. an optimised Drupal eb design and ethical SEO, which is more demanding, but also more sustainable. The site was changed from zencart to Drupal with the Ubercart shopping cart, and there was new content, individually written high quality articles, quality PR etc., etc.

Cost V Savings

1,200 hours work (most of it by the client under our supervision) is estimated to have cost the client £10,000 as most of the work had to be done anyway, e.g. new content, a better Drupal web design.

Two years later the client is still saving £1,000 per month  and the business is growing organically.

Savings after 2 years (£24,000 - £10,000)  = £14,000

After 2 years, the site was updated and moved to a faster server (£1,000)

Savings after 3 years estimated to be (£36,000 - £10,000 - £1,000)  = £25,000
